Monroe strut inserts...?

I'm thinking about making my own struts, so i was checking around to see what insert would work...every place i checked had to order in the insert, so when they asked what car it was going on i had to explain what i was doing...a few guys said it wouldn't work and some others said if i could get the part number they would order them...does anyone know what insert would be compatible for what i want to do...i want to use monroe's because im trying to keep the cost down a bit.

yeah i have the stock ones but i wanted to make a set i saw on a post here by Zimahype where he made his own from some pipe...i think he used koni strut inserts, the pipes i.D was 1.7" so im gonna try and make a set. Theres one place that can get them but i dont know which one would work best for me...any idea
